Recruiting is intense.

As soon as you get used to the free meals and small grocery bills, they cut you off cold turkey. No cocktail events. No dinners. No office hours. No coffee chats. No lunch time information sessions. No nothing! Just the ominous, impending, oh-so-clustered resume drop dates. Gone are the properous wine, dine and sell times; replaced with the filter, grill, slice, dice and julien era.

It’s an odd feeling not having any consulting firms on or around campus. I find myself staring at the empty lunch slot on my Blackberry, willing an event to appear. I do a flyby of all the 3rd floor classrooms “just in case”. I stop by the CDO in a withdrawal-induced trance and just about sign up to be the 51st-ranked BSchool. I’m almost craving Rebecca’s concrete sandwiches and “macaroni salad”. Bertucci’s oil with a side of pizza almost smells good once again. Worst of all, I’m never going to get through all 500 business cards.

I wonder how “The Boston Now” vendors feel about some competition…
