our annual pilgrimage to vegas!
Got some catching up to do here… two weeks ago, my buddies from Vancouver met me in Vegas to fulfil our annual Vegas quota. Naturally, the typical Vegas rules apply and so I present… the presentables…
The plan was to grab a table at Tryst on our first night. I was scheduled to land last at 8:45p and then hustle over to Planet Hollywood to check-in and get ready. Given the expected crowd on a Thursday at Tryst, we were shooting to arrive at 10p. That left me virtually no slack. What I didn’t factor in, was the completely overweight girl in front of me nearly passing out while walking through the never-ending Disneyland-like waiting line. I kid you not, she had to stop twice to catch her breath while navigating the switchbacks walking from one end of the taxi line to the other.
Girl, that’s your body giving you a not so subtle hint that you may have had one too many chicken wings…
Fortunately, we made it in only slightly late, with a fantastic booth to boot! Yes, that’s boot… not a-bout. Much kudos to our beautiful Vancouver girls for helping cut the sausage factor!

Night #2 began at Tao Bistro. We had heard from a friend that a great way into Tao (especially on a Friday) is to have dinner at the restaurant first. This entitled us to front-of-the-line access (not to be confused by the “front-of-the-line” tickets you can buy off the strip… that don’t work, btw) and no cover. Mind you, nothing is free in Vegas. You pay a steep premium on the food, but as you’ll see… you may be eating your dollar bills, but damn they taste good!

Once we got our stamps, we left the overpriced ($15) drinks at Tao for a little pre-gaming on the strip at ol’ dependable “Casino Royale”! Nothing like $1.50 shots and $1.00 margaritas/beers. Yes, you pay for what you get. No, you won’t go blind… hang on… even that I can’t guarantee.

After a night at Tao (of which I have absolutely ZERO photos *shrug*), we decided to remind ourselves of what Vegas looked like during the day. I took the obligatory day-time shot of some random Vegas icon… and that was it. Back indoors in hunt for the next vice.

Our next must-do was the half-yard drinks from “Carnival Court” at Harrah’s. ‘nuf said. We then tried to do a little shopping, but my attention span was severely short at that point.

After our half-yards, our collective wisdom was that we needed something more. Something bigger… something different….hmmm… guitars! We have dreams of one-day merging this concept with a Rock Band guitar for double the pleasure, double the fun. One day… one day…

As always, Vegas never disappoints. Till next time!

came across your blog while googling vegas stuff. ive had my share of yard drinks, and quite a few in vegas but WHERE DID YOU FIND THE GUITARS? please share location…as i MUST go there
Hey Alexis, we got them from “The Rockhouse” across from Caesars. They were a definite highlight of the trip. May very well replace our yard-long margarita tradition!
